NATIVE PLANTS
EDIBLE BERRIES      FERNS      FLOWERS AND POLLINATOR PLANTS       GROUNDCOVERS       NATIVE TREES

Native plants are becoming increasingly popular in the urban landscape.  Here on the West Coast of British Columbia there are numerous native plants that can be easily grown in your own yard to help you create natural, sustainable and edible garden spaces.   Many of these plants have been used by the local First Nations people for hundreds of years - some for eating, others for medicinal and spiritual uses.  While many native edible are rarely consume today because they don't meet our modern taste palette, some like the fiddle heads of the Ostrich fern and various berries are sought after by top chief for their outstanding taste.

Not only do these plants look great, but because they have had hundreds of years to adapt to our environment and climate they generally require minimal watering and pest control once established compared to traditional ornamental gardens and lawns.   Adding Native plants to your landscape is a great way to help provide habitat and sanctuary for birds and insects.

Plant some of these great plants and help restore nature to the urban jungle!
